GILDA'S STORY

After she spent several months struggling with a poor appetite and short term memory recall deficits, doctors and nurses advised her and other Cancer patients of the possible negative results of poor intake with Chemotherapy Treatments. While taking these treatments, she began to experience health complications - which included inadequate nutrition and dehydration. It was at this time, Gilda saw the need to start a new dietary regiment.

She did not want any additional feeding problems, and therefore, consulted with a young man who was pursuing a career in Culinary Arts as a Chef. The young man became her personal chef in training. With Chef M's assistance, her abnormal appetite resumed to normal. His assistance helped her to continually maintain a healthy weight, adequate nutrition and hydration.

The physicians were amazed with her healing process. She was now experiencing improved health benefits due to increased nutrition and hydration. When asked about her progress, Gilda gave an enormous amount of credit to the quality of food prepared to perfection by the Culinary student.

As she continued to follow the recommended diet prescribed to Cancer patients, Gilda allowed her Adventure with Cancer to guide her career to specialize in Dysphagia Therapy.

Gilda also shares with patients the importance of utilizing compensatory memory recall techniques to enhance short memory skills in order to improve their overall cognitive-communication skills. Memory loss can cause word finding deficits affecting communication skills.
